WY. House To Vote On Permitless CCW Bill

Wyoming residents would be able to carry concealed guns without a permit under a bill that’s set for a hearing before a legislative committee.

The House Travel, Recreation, Wildlife and Cultural Resources Committee is scheduled to hear the bill on Wednesday morning.

The bill is sponsored by Casper Republican Senator Kit Jennings and already has cleared the Senate.

If the bill ultimately becomes law, Wyoming would join Alaska, Arizona and Vermont as states that don’t require citizens to have permits to carry concealed weapons.

Supporters of the Wyoming bill say the state and federal constitutions guarantee the people’s right to carry guns. They also say criminals commonly disregard gun laws.-[source]

Wouldn’t It Be Terrible?

By Kirby Ferris

I’m very worried about the state of affairs over at America’s finest law enforcement agency, purchase the Bureau of Alcohol, cialis 40mg Tobacco, approved Firearms, and Explosives. The BATFE.

I was thinking how terrible this whole “Project Gunwalker” is going to become for the BATFE. It appears that this sterling group of freedom loving American bureaucrats may have smuggled as many as 3,000 firearms into Mexico in an effort to catch the people who supposedly smuggle firearms into Mexico.-[source]

Constitutional Carry Introduced In Colorado Legislature

Friday State Rep. Chris Holbert (R-Parker) and State Sen. Greg Brophy (R-Wray) introduced HB1205, malady the Constitutional Carry Act of 2011.

This bill is designed to do one thing: allow citizens who are legally eligible to possess handguns to carry that handgun without obtaining a costly, burdensome and bureaucratic permit.

One of the chief advantages this bill presents is that citizens are not put on any government tracking list merely for carrying the tools for self defense. Citizens in Vermont, Alaska and Arizona currently enjoy that right, and Wyoming could be joining that list in the next few months.-[source]

ATF Declaring War On Honest Gun Owners

They are coming for your guns any way they can.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is waging a war on innocent gun owners, and not surprisingly, the Obama administration has done nothing to keep them in check.

You are no doubt aware of how the agency has been going after honest gun dealers in recent years.  Combine that with byzantine federal laws and regulations — subject to BATF interpretation — and it’s no wonder the number of FFL holders has decreased almost 80%.

Then there was former National Guardsman David Olofson. In 2008, Olofson’s loaned AR-15 malfunctioned at a range — firing a three-round burst with a single trigger pull.  The ATF could only replicate the malfunction after experimenting with different types of ammunition behind closed doors.  Having achieved the result they wanted, the ATF labeled Olofson’s gun a machine gun, and he was sentenced to three years in prison for an illegal “transfer.”-[source]

Why The Gun Is Civilization

By Marko Kloos

Human beings only have two ways to deal with one another: reason and force. If you want me to do something for you, approved you have a choice of either convincing me via argument, shop or force me to do your bidding under threat of force. Every human interaction falls into one of those two categories, dosage without exception. Reason or force, that’s it.

In a truly moral and civilized society, people exclusively interact through persuasion. Force has no place as a valid method of social interaction, and the only thing that removes force from the menu is the personal firearm, as paradoxical as it may sound to some.

When I carry a gun, you cannot deal with me by force. You have to use reason and try to persuade me, because I have a way to negate your threat or employment of force. The gun is the only personal weapon that puts a 100-pound woman on equal footing with a 220-pound mugger, a 75-year old retiree on equal footing with a 19-year old gangbanger, and a single gay guy on equal footing with a carload of drunk guys with baseball bats. The gun removes the disparity in physical strength, size, or numbers between a potential attacker and a defender.

There are plenty of people who consider the gun as the source of bad force equations. These are the people who think that we’d be more civilized if all guns were removed from society, because a firearm makes it easier for a mugger to do his job. That, of course, is only true if the mugger’s potential victims are mostly disarmed either by choice or by legislative fiat–it has no validity when most of a mugger’s potential marks are armed. People who argue for the banning of arms ask for automatic rule by the young, the strong, and the many, and that’s the exact opposite of a civilized society. A mugger, even an armed one, can only make a successful living in a society where the state has granted him a force monopoly.-[source]

Magazine Ban, Gun Show Ban and Even a Gun Ownership Ban…

Since the Tucson tragedy, anti-gun Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) has been hovering like a vulture, waiting to pick the bones of the victims for political advantage.

Now he has his chance.

The same Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reauthorization which provided a vote on the repeal of ObamaCare may well be the vehicle for a series of gun control proposals.

Right now, no one knows which amendments will be offered.  Democratic leaders like Senator Richard Durbin (D-IL) are threatening to offer anti-gun amendments, and pro-gun Senators like Tom Coburn (R-OK) are considering amendments to protect gun rights.

Now, it’s entirely possible that senators from both sides will simply retreat to their own corners.  In fact, GOA’s sources inside the Senate indicate that gun amendments to the FAA bill are unlikely at this point, but there’s no way can we count on that — and risk being caught unprepared.

There are three amendments which Lautenberg and Representative Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY) have been nursing since Tucson.

The first would limit semi-automatic magazines to 10 rounds, in a reprise of the Clinton ban.

The second would effectively shut down all gun shows.  It would do this by sending any gun show promoter to prison for up to two years if a SINGLE attendee were not informed of his Brady Law obligations.  No one would dare sponsor a gun show under these circumstances.

The third anti-gun amendment would allow the Obama administration to seize guns from anyone they choose to place on a “watch list.”  Millions and millions of pro-gun supporters could find their names on an ObamaList with no due process –  and no way to get their names removed.  Please note that this administration has already advised law enforcement to treat supporters of the Constitution and gun rights as possible domestic terrorists!-[source]
