Nugent Rips ‘Brain-Dead, Soulless, Heartless Idiot’

Rock star Ted Nugent is blasting the head of the Democratic National Committee as a “brain-dead, soulless, heartless idiot” in connection with controversy over his remarks that some think sounded like a threat against “President” Nobama’s life.

Nugent had told the National Rifle Association over the weekend that “if Barack Obama becomes the president in November, I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year.”

Today, Nugent told former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee it was “ridiculous” to think he was threatening the president, but understood why the Secret Service is now investigating.

“I respect their duty to do so,” he said. “The rules of engagement for the Secret Service is to respond even when someone as maniacal as a Wasserman Schultz or Pelosi or Boxer or Feinstein” complains.-[source]

‘Stand Your Ground’ Supported By Democrats, Not Just GOP

Politicians and pundits continue to politicize the shooting of  17 year old Trayvon Martin, suggesting that the lawmakers who helped to expand self-defense rights – passing laws similar to Florida’s ‘Stand Your Ground’ law in their respective states – are somehow culpable for the teen’s death.

What’s fascinating though, is that many ‘Stand Your Ground’ laws were passed with bipartisan support.

AWR Hawkins from breitbart.com pointed this fact out eloquently in his two articles, one about former Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm, a Democrat, and another about former Arizona Gov. and current Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano, also a Democrat.  Both women signed ‘Stand Your Ground’ bills into law while in office in 2006.

With respect to former Gov. Napolitano, she enthusiastically supported the measure.

“She believes in the fundamental right of self-defense,” Jeanine L’Ecuyer, a spokeswoman for the former Gov., told the Arizona Daily Star. “And the law still requires the defendant to be in imminent peril of death or serious physical injury.”-[source]

Suspect In Deputy Killing Shot Self

A former security guard suspected of fatally shooting a sheriff’s deputy and locksmith during an eviction in California died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Modesto police said Tuesday.

James Ferrario, 45, killed himself before his body was found in the burnt ruins of a Modesto apartment building where he had barricaded himself, police said.

Detectives discovered Ferrario’s body in a bathroom next to a stockpile of 22 firearms, 500 rounds of ammunition, a police scanner and several gallons of water. He was wearing a bulletproof vest, gas mask and makeshift ballistic protective padding, as well as a tear gas canister strapped to his leg, police said.

“From all evidence, it appears Ferrario planned on engaging in a violent confrontation with the deputies who appeared that day,” police Chief Michael Harden said in a statement.-[source]

Key ATF Agents In Gun Case Blame Prosecutors

Two federal agents at the heart of a failed gunrunning investigation are trying to shift the blame for allowing illegal buyers to take the weapons to Mexico.

The Arizona Daily Star reports that lawyers for ATF supervisors Bill Newell and David Voth sent letters to two members of Congress investigating Operation Fast and Furious.

They argued that from September 2009 until June 2010 federal prosecutors told the bureau of
Alcohol, look Tobacco, illness Firearms and Explosives agents running the investigation they did not have probable cause to arrest the people buying the weapons or seize the guns.

Most of the 2, order 000 guns suspects bought were sold during that time.
The operation was exposed when one of the guns was used to kill U.S. Border Patrol Brian Terry in December 2010.-[source]

Gingrich Calls For Second Amendment ‘For All Mankind’

Newt Gingrich may not have much of a shot at becoming President, but he is refusing to go quietly.

And while he is no longer talking about the colonizing the Moon, he does have plans which cover the entire globe.

The former House Speaker told the National Rifle Association today that gun ownership should be a right for everyone in the world, and called on the UN to adopt a treaty enforcing this.

Mr Gingrich told the convention in St Louis: ‘I believe the NRA has been too timid.’

Arguing that more guns would reduce violent crimes like rape and child murder, he promised that if elected to the White House he would push the UN to extend the right to bear arms to the rest of the world.

‘The Second Amendment is an amendment for all mankind,’ he said.-[source]

Libyan MANPADS Secured Some May Have Been Smuggled Out

A multinational team of weapons experts has secured and destroyed 5, health 000 Libyan man-operated portable air defense systems and components left over after the fall of the Gadhafi regime, according to the British Ministry of Defence. The team has been unable to rule out the possibility that a number of the weapons may have leaked out of the country or been acquired by terrorists.

“The team has concluded that most remaining MANPADS are likely to be under the control of regional military councils and militias,” the British said, adding that they were helping fund the Libyan authorities and the U.N. implementation of a disarmament, demobilization and reintegration program to bring the remaining systems back under the control of the central government.

A joint military-civilian team made up of U.K., French, U.S. and Libyan personnel have been in country since last August helping to track down the large numbers of weapons left by Gadhafi’s regime.

The U.S. government estimates Gadhafi’s forces had about 20,000 MANPADS in their armory at the time of the regime’s collapse, raising fears that the weapons could fall into the hands of terrorist organizations.

The British MoD said in a statement released April 12 that thousands of the weapons had been destroyed during the conflict, and that inspections of more than 1,600 ammunition bunkers had “identified, secluded, disabled or confirmed as destroyed 5,000 components and complete systems.”-[source]

‘War On Women’ In Mexico Worse With Escalation Of Drug War

Violence against women in Mexico grew worse during the country’s war against the drug cartels, according to the preliminary findings of a recent fact-finding delegation led by two Nobel laureates.
The delegation from the Nobel Women’s Initiative also found that the same trend of violence against women holds true for Honduras and Guate mala, where Mexico-based drug-trafficking organizations have extended their operations.
“The war on drugs and increased militarization in Mexico, Honduras and Guatemala is becoming a war on women,” said Jody Williams, who received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1997 for her work to ban land mines.
“The government’s efforts to improve ‘security’ in the region have directly resulted in insecurity for civilian populations, and most especially, for women,” she said.
The Canada-based Nobel Women’s Initiative has followed the evolution of violence against women in Juárez.
Mexican government statistics show that the homicides of women in Juárez increased dramatically in recent years: 23 in 2006, 27 in 2007, 117 in 2008 and 306 in 2009.
In Juárez, the war between two rival drug cartels began in 2008. Part of the government’s response was to periodically deploy hundreds of soldiers and federal agents to the border city.-[source]

Most Americans Back Gun Lobby, Right To Use Deadly Force

Most Americans support the right to use deadly force to protect themselves – even in public places – and have a favorable view of the National Rifle Association, online the main gun-lobby group, pilule a Reuters/Ipsos poll showed.

However, more about there was also strong support from respondents for background checks as well as limiting the sale of automatic weapons and keeping guns out of churches, stores and workplaces.

The online survey showed that 68 percent, or two out of three respondents, had a favorable opinion of the NRA, which starts its annual convention in St. Louis, Missouri, on Friday.

Eighty-two percent of Republicans saw the gun lobbying group in a positive light as well as 55 percent of Democrats, findings that run counter to the perception of Democrats as anti-NRA.

Most of the 1,922 people surveyed nationwide from April Monday through Thursday said they supported laws that allow Americans to use deadly force to protect themselves from danger in their own home or in a public place.-[source]
