Local radio station KTWO reports that lawmakers in Wyoming have proposed a “Firearms Protection Act” that provides a state-level annulment of any ban against semi-automatics or magazines that hold 20 or 30 rounds or more.
If the measure passes, it would mean that anyone–even federal agents-who try to enforce a ban within the state borders could be charged with a felony.
Is this the wave of the future for “red” states concerned about Obama’s strong anti-gun intentions?
It is too early to tell. But it is worth noting that Montana lawmakers began pushing for the same kind of legislation as soon as conservatives took control of that state’s legislature in 2010. -[source]
The 24-year-old man who threatened to commit Sandy Hook type crimes in L.A. claimed he was hell-bent on leaving “dead kindergartners” in his wake … yet he will not be prosecuted.
Kyle Bangayan posted threats on Facebook the same day as the Newtown shooting … and claimed he was targeting L.A. schools … this according to a search warrant obtained by TMZ.
Kyle allegedly wrote, “No really America, if you post one more Facebook post about the shooting at that elementary school, I swear to whatever ****ing God you believe in that I will do the same ***damn thing.”
The rant continues, “I have the guns, I have the incentive, and I won’t commit suicide at the end, I’ll just go to the next ****ing school and the next and the next …”
And he goes on … “So I woke up this morning and said to myself … Dang you know [what] would be really awesome right now … some dead kindergarteners … and Christmas early.”
Kyle was arrested in L.A. after a tipster told the LAPD about the online threats — and when cops searched his bedroom (at his parents house) they found six semi-auto handguns, two rifles and one shotgun.
Now for the kicker. Kyle was released and the L.A. County D.A. said no charges would be filed, because the threats were not specific.
A little unsettling …. don’t you think?-[source]
“There will come a time when the gun owners of America, prescription the law-abiding gun owners of America, what is ed will be the Rosa Parks and we will sit down on the front seat of the bus, case closed.”
This was the response of Ted Nugent, rock legend and long-time defender of the Second Amendment, when asked what he would do should the government decide to go forward with any of the many firearms-confiscation plans now being developed.
In an exclusive interview with WND, Nugent, who said at the National Rifle Association convention last year that, “If Barack Obama becomes the president in November, again, I will be either be dead or in jail by this time next year,” unloaded on the recent news that Obama is considering an executive order to deal with guns.
The Weekly Standard reported that, “Vice President Joe Biden revealed that President Barack Obama might use an executive order to deal with guns.”
“The president is going to act,” said Biden, giving some comments to the press before a meeting with victims of gun violence. “There are executive orders, there’s executive action that can be taken. We haven’t decided what that is yet. But we’re compiling it all with the help of the attorney general and the rest of the cabinet members as well as legislative action that we believe is required.”
Biden said that this is a moral issue and that “it’s critically important that we act.”
“If it comes to the actual implementation of an actual confiscatory directive from our president, then I do believe that the heroes of the law enforcement will defy this order. I do believe that there are enough soulless sheep within our government who would act on such an illegal order but I believe the powers that be at the local, state, and regional law enforcement would halt such an illegal, anti-American order,” said Nugent.-[source]
Everything from arming teachers and principals, to putting more resource officers on campus, has been suggested to make schools safer.
Sheriff Joe Arpaio is launching his own idea this week: utilizing his armed posse members near schools.
The sheriff came up with the controversial plan right after the horrific school shooting in Newtown, Conn.
Litchfield Park is just one of the schools where a posse member would be close by.
The sheriff stresses the armed posse member will not be in the school, or on the campus. Instead, the posse member would be patrolling the perimeter in marked cars.
Posse members are volunteers who have their own guns and they are insured by MCSO.
“We’re going to do everything we can to deter anybody who feels they can come into the school and cause havoc,” said Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
Arpaio is going to start with schools in county islands, where he already has jurisdiction. He’ll start with about 50 schools in areas like Cave Creek, Anthem, Fountain Hills, Sun City, Litchfield Park, Gila Bend, Carefree, Queen Creek and Guadalupe.
He needs no permission from the schools because they are not going to be in the schools. The posse members also are not paid. They underwent training for the new idea.-[source]

The murder trial of a former Guns and Ammo editor ended in a mistrial Wednesday after the jury failed to come to a unanimous decision.
Richard Venola, 53, is charged with second-degree murder in the death of his friend, James Patrick O’Neill, 39. Venola maintains that he acted in self-defense when he shot O’Neill once in the chest with a large-caliber rifle in May 2012.
Jurors deliberated for about 2½ hours before telling court officials that further discussions between them would be fruitless. The jury reportedly voted five to three in favor of an acquittal.
The state intends to retry the case. Venola’s attorney, Ron Gilleo, said he intends to present the same defense and testimony as he did in the first trial.
Gilleo said Venola and the victim were friends and drinking together at Venola’s home in the 4800 block of Mayan Drive in Golden Valley.
He said that the conversation took a turn for the worse when O’Neill was insulted by Venola telling him he was going to lock his gun safe, presumably because Venola was suspicious of O’Neill.
“That was probably the moment Richard noticed a change in Mr. O’Neill,” he said.
Gilleo said Venola only shot O’Neill after O’Neill threatened to rob Venola and kill him with one of the guns accessible at the home. -[source]
An effort to raise money for a gun buyback program in Tucson is prompting questions about a change in state law.
Councilman Steve Kozachik has reportedly raised $7,000 so Tucson residents have a way to dispose of unwanted firearms while making money in the process.
The program starts on Tuesday, the two-year anniversary of the Tucson shooting in which 19 people were shot, including then-Representative Gabrielle Giffords.
“With the success other cities have had with voluntary gun buybacks, I want to test the water to see how Tucson residents respond,” Kozachik told the Arizona Daily Star.
“The rules are simple: Bring in your gun on a totally voluntary basis, no questions asked, and you’ll trade it for a Safeway $50 gift card.”
But Todd Rathner, a member of the National Rifle Association’s board of directors, said any buyback program would be meaningless since the police department would be required to return or resell the weapons under a change made earlier this year to state law.
“The police would have to take the guns and run them through the national database. If they are stolen, they are returned to the owner,” he said. “If they are not stolen, (the Tucson Police Department) is mandated by state law to sell them to the public.”-[source]

A woman hiding in her attic with children shot an intruder multiple times before fleeing to safety Friday.
The incident happened at a home on Henderson Ridge Lane in Loganville around 1 p.m. The woman was working in an upstairs office when she spotted a strange man outside a window, according to Walton County Sheriff Joe Chapman. He said she took her 9-year-old twins to a crawlspace before the man broke in using a crowbar.
But the man eventually found the family.
“The perpetrator opens that door. Of course, at that time he’s staring at her, her two children and a .38 revolver.”
The woman then shot him five times, but he survived, Chapman said. He said the woman ran out of bullets but threatened to shoot the intruder if he moved.
“She’s standing over him, and she realizes she’s fired all six rounds. And the guy’s telling her to quit shooting.”
The woman ran to a neighbor’s home with her children. The intruder attempted to flee in his car but crashed into a wooded area and collapsed in a nearby driveway.-[source]
Just before Christmas we had a guest in our home.
A young man who is a U. S. Army staff sergeant, find a soldier, an infantryman who has led men in combat on the fields of battle in Iraq and Afghanistan.
He was passing through on his way to his latest tour of duty in Afghanistan where people want to kill him.
He’s been to war a half-dozen times now since he enlisted a dozen years ago after graduating from high school. Going to war has been his adult life.
As a staff non-commissioned officer the lives of many are in his hands.
When most young men and women his age who work in management or leadership positions make a mistake at work, they can usually correct it on their laptop.
When he makes a mistake at work, the chances are high someone or many will die or are injured seriously.
That’s an incredible amount of responsibility to carry but he does it willingly and admirably.
We didn’t talk about the war while he was here. There was no need to.
We talked about cold beer, women (he’s single, ladies, and quite handsome), and what he was going to do after the army and the days of carrying a M4 rifle and leading men in battle for a living.
We talked about the closeness you have with those who have served no matter what branch of service they were in.
The camaraderie that comes with those you share danger and death with is as strong a bond as I’ve ever seen or experienced.
It never ceases to amaze me where we find the young people who are willing to put their lives on the line and bravely venture into the jaws of death in the service of their country.
It takes a special breed to seek out danger so that others may live and prosper while living a life of honor and sacrifice.
Sadly sometimes the sacrifice is life and limb.-[ source]
