The Ohio Democratic Party tried unsuccessfully this week to get information on all people licensed to carry concealed weapons in the Buckeye State.
The state party sent letters to Ohio’s 88 sheriffs requesting the names and addresses of permit holders and the dates the licenses were issued. Ohio has about 211,000 permit holders.
But neither the Democrats nor any other political party can get that information. The records are exempt from the public record laws. The only public access was given to journalists when then-Gov. Bob Taft signed the law in 2004.
The Democrats intended to target people who support the Second Amendment — the constitutional right to bear arms — with campaign information, said party spokesman, Seth Bringman.-[source]
Thankfully, in the State of Texas no lists can be released on this, though agencies and courts can release it when needed. The whole point of the CHL is that NO BODY KNOWS who’s got one. Why would this Dumbocrat throw all the non CHL holders under the bus by releasing information that criminals might exploit; criminals aren’t going to go after armed people, but the sheep who expect the one sheepdog to be everywhere at once to protect them (impossible as it is).
A similar attempt was proposed in Arizona, by a minority of fring left winger legislators and a corrupt,racsist newspaper editorialist.
I was amazed at the propaganda aimed at releasing CCW records to the public, and their attempt at rationalizing the reasons for.
I believe the reasons for which, be it any state, for these types of harassment of law abiding citizens is pure intimidation, nothing less, brought to you by the same people that used these same tactics perpetrated by unionized thugs during the nobama socialized healthcare.
By making CCW records public, will only endanger those that have taken it upon themselves to protect their families by aquiring CCW training.
The legislators here were voted out of office, and the editorialist has since moved away, his leftwing racist rants upset lots of people, and someone put a price on his head, my guess is the rag requested he move away.
I’m sure because of his actions, where he may now reside, he himself must surely have a CCW himself.
I’m sure he would feel differently nowadays, about having his name and address printed in black and white, as the holder of a CCW
